The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) successfully shot down a Myanmar military fighter jet on June 10 at approximately 12:15 PM near Kandaung Village, Pale Township, Sagaing region during an ongoing operation to capture the local police station held by junta forces.
The incident occurred during an intense battle as PLA forces attempted to seize control of the Kandaung police station, a key military outpost defended by an estimated 100 junta troops.
The type of aircraft and the condition of the pilot(s) remain under investigation.
The PLA has been conducting an offensive to capture the Kandaung outpost since June 2. The location is considered strategically important due to its position along the India-Myanmar trade route.
The military junta is fiercely defending the outpost, carrying out numerous airstrikes. Moreover, reinforcements have also been deployed to support their defence. However, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has successfully repelled these reinforcement troops.
Due to the strategic importance of the base, the junta’s Northwestern Regional Military Command is said to be closely overseeing to maintain control of the position and prevent it from being captured.
Further updates will be provided soon.
The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) was founded on March 15, 2021 during the Spring Revolution of Burma, and is under complete leadership of the Communist Party of Burma (CPB).
